The City that Never Sleeps

I will admit I am completely biased on this one. New York is my favorite city in the world. As a New Yorker, I relate very well culturally to the people and I'm enthralled by the fact that, like in Vegas, there is something to do at all hours of the day and night. During this trip, I spent some time with my roommate and some time with my best friend Amy.

I took my roommate to see the Statue of Liberty and the city skyline via the Staten Island Ferry. We also saw some other typical sights, such as the Empire State Building and Central Park. He was only in New York for a couple of days, so that is primarily what we did together.

One of my favorite things about New York is the food, so of course, I had several different cuisines while I was there. I also ate at Gramercy Tavern, which was a bucket list restaurant for me and my first Michelin Star meal. I also ate at Chinatown, Little Italy, and a Georgian restaurant.

It happened to be pride week while I was there, so I was able to see some cool pride events such as a drag show. I also went to Stonewall and Cubbyhole, one of the U.S.'s last standing lesbian bars.

My best friend came down to the city and we had a great evening together, going to a speakeasy in Astoria called Astoria's Secret. The following day, we went to the Bronx Zoo and saw the hyenas mating.

I have an amazing time every time I'm in New York. There are endless things to do and people to meet and there's a sort of magic to that. I believe everyone should go to New York City at some point in their lives.
