The north shore of Oahu is lesser known but should not be overlooked. There is a more local feel to the north shore. There are amazing restaurants with great fresh seafood to be found. One of my favorite meals was three dozen oysters from a local restaurant and a fresh mango from a roadside tree. Although I wasn't there long, I had some of the best sunset views, seafood, and sea turtle viewing of my life.
I once again stayed with a host from Couchsurfing. You can see my lovely ocean views in the image above. If you plan to stay on the north shore, I recommend getting your own form of transportation such as a rental car, as public transportation in the area is scarce. However you get there, it will be worth it!
